In leafy North London, musician, professor of piano, violinist, performer, teacher and accompanist extraordinaire, Elizabeth Dockrell-Tyler,
and me, operatic soprano, performer, teacher, writer, and now broadcaster, Angelina Kalahari, searched together for somewhere for our students to perform regularly – the only way really to learn performance skills and to gain performance experience. But to our amazement, no such place existed. Thus the North London Performance Academy was born. The Academy’s objective is to give students of all ages and Academy showcases take place at Church House, 2 Wood Street, Barnet, Herts EN5 4BWon Saturdays. Rehearsals/warm-ups are from 2:00pm and performances start at 3:00pm. Tickets are £3 on the door.
If you would like to attend or participate in our monthly showcases, musicians please call Elizabeth Dockrell-Tyler on 07889 314 318, email: delzbth50000@aol.com, or singers/actors/dancers please call Angelina on: 07957 561 396. The Academy also offer master classes during the year, which are separate from the showcases. Students who have been performing with the Academy will be eligible for first places. The next master classes for voice and piano are: Tuesday/Wednesday 26/27 October concluding with an evening performance on Wednesday, 27 October at: All Saints Church and Arts Centre, 122 Oakleigh Road North, N20 9EZ. The master classes offer students the opportunity to gain more in-depth knowledge of their instruments, and to receive practical assistance in becoming better, more professional musicians and performers. For more information and to book your place, please contact Angelina as soon as possible. Please note that we take only a few students per master class in order that everyone receive optimum benefits from the experience.
